Mae\u2019r cadeirydd un o wyliau cerdd hynaf a mwyaf eiconig y DU, ac sy\u2019n hoff o chwarae\u2019r sacsoffon yn ei amser hamdden, yn awyddus i ehangu ap\u00eal yr \u0175yl er mwyn sicrhau ei dyfodol.<\/p>\n

Nod y meddyg wedi ymddeol Rhys Davies, yw ymestyn allan ar draws y ffin i ddenu perfformwyr, cystadleuwyr, mynychwyr cyngerdd ac ymwelwyr i Eisteddfod Gerddorol Ryngwladol Llangollen.<\/p>\n

Y mannau y mae am eu targedu yw\u2019r dinasoedd mawr ac ardaloedd poblog sydd o fewn taith dwy awr o\u2019r dref yn Sir Ddinbych lle dechreuodd y digwyddiad yn 1947.<\/p>\n

Mi wnaeth Rhys, meddyg yn y dref ers 30 mlynedd, fynychu ei Eisteddfod gyntaf yn 1956 fel baban bach ac yn awr mae am weld yr \u0175yl yn ennill calonnau cenhedlaeth newydd.<\/p>\n

Meddai: \u201cMae Cymru yn bwysig i ni, ond os ewch i\u2019r gorllewin o Langollen ychydig gannoedd o filoedd o bobl sy\u2019n byw yno o fewn pellter awr neu ddwy o deithio. Ond ar y llaw arall, os ewch i\u2019r dwyrain mae yno chwech neu saith miliwn o bobl o fenw cyrraedd hwylus i Langollen.<\/p>\n

\u201cEisteddfod Llangollen yw hi ac os yw\u2019r Eisteddfod yn ffynnu yna mae\u2019r dref a\u2019r ardal gyfagos yn ffynnu hefyd, ond rydym yn \u0175yl ryngwladol ac mae angen i ni ymestyn allan yn bell ac agos.<\/p>\n

\u201cMae angen i estyn allan at y bobl hynny ar draws y ffin a dangos iddynt bod dod yma yn brofiad gwerth chweil, a bod gennym gymaint i\u2019w gynnig.\u201d<\/p>\n

Olynodd Rhys y cadeirydd blaenorol Gethin Davies, g\u0175r a roddodd wasanaeth hir i\u2019r Eisteddfod Ryngwladol a\u2019r unig berson a fu\u2019n gadeirydd ar yr \u0175yl ddwywaith. Mae Rhys yn fab i\u2019r diweddar Dr Jack Davies a fu\u2019n feddyg teulu yn y dref am 30 mlynedd o 1955, ac am nifer o flynyddoedd roedd cartref y teulu ar ymyl maes yr Eisteddfod yn Dolafon Villas, gerllaw yr hen Ysbyty Bwthyn.<\/p>\n

Mae gan Rhys a\u2019i wraig Ann, ddau o blant sydd bellach wedi tyfu, ac maent bellach yn byw yn Nh\u0177 Pentrefelin lle bu ei rieni\u2019n byw, ac meddai: \u201cErs pan oeddwn yn fachgen bach rwyf wedi gwirfoddoli yn yr \u0175yl, fel negesydd, tywysydd a gwerthwr rhaglenni.<\/p>\n

\u201cMi wnaeth mynd i\u2019r Brifysgol a chael swydd olygu fy mod wedi byw i ffwrdd o\u2019r ardal am rai blynyddoedd, ond pan wnes i ddychwelyd i fyw a gweithio yn Llangollen – roeddwn yn bartner h\u0177n yn y feddygfa leol – mi wnes i ailddechrau fy nghysylltiad gyda\u2019r Eisteddfod.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mae\u2019n ddilynwr cerddoriaeth brwd ei hun ac yn chwarae\u2019r sacsoffon – fyth ers i\u2019w wraig brynu offeryn iddo fel anrheg Nadolig 10 mlynedd yn \u00f4l – ac mae ganddo chwaeth eang sy\u2019n cynnwys opera, cerddoriaeth glasurol, jazz a cherddoriaeth roc y Saithdegau.<\/p>\n

Byddai Rhys yn hoffi meithrin cysylltiadau \u00e2 dinasoedd fel Lerpwl, lle hyfforddodd fel meddyg, Manceinion a Birmingham sydd \u00e2 phoblogaethau mawr a chysylltiadau \u00e2 Gogledd Cymru.<\/p>\n

Dywedodd: \u201cByddai\u2019n wych cael y Superlambanana yma o Lerpwl ac efallai neilltuo un diwrnod a chyngerdd gyda\u2019r hwyr i arddangos diwylliant dinas fel Lerpwl, Manceinion neu Birmingham.<\/p>\n\n

\u201cMae ganddynt fywyd diwylliannol bywiog, cerddorfeydd a chorau mawr, cwmn\u00efau dawns clasurol a chyfoes ac mae gennym leoliad gwych a digwyddiad sydd \u00e2 threftadaeth gyfoethog.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ond mae\u2019n ychwanegu ei bod hefyd yn bwysig parhau i estyn allan dramor ac i gydnabod bod y grwpiau sy\u2019n dod yma, yn enwedig o\u2019r Trydydd Byd, yn wynebu rhwystrau ariannol mawr.<\/p>\n

Ychwanegodd: \u201cHoffwn weld digwyddiadau a chyngherddau elusennol Llangollen ar hyd y flwyddyn yn rhoi hwb i\u2019r gronfa bwrsariaeth er mwyn helpu\u2019r grwpiau yma i wneud y daith i Langollen.<\/p>\n

\u201cNaws ryngwladol Llangollen sy\u2019n creu lliw ac awyrgylch anhygoel yr Eisteddfod a rhaid i ni wneud popeth o fewn ein gallu i gynnal y traddodiad yna.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mae tocynnau ar gyfer cyngherddau\u2019r Eisteddfod eleni, fydd yn cychwyn ar ddydd Mawrth, 5 Gorffennaf, eisoes yn gwerthu\u2019n dda, yn enwedig y tocynnau ar gyfer y noson agoriadol pryd bydd y seren ddawnus Katherine Jenkins yn cychwyn ei rhaglen trwy ganu Carmen gan Bizet.<\/p>\n

Dydd Mercher fydd Diwrnod Rhyngwladol y Plant a bydd yn cynnwys cystadlaethau corawl a dawns a hefyd cystadleuaeth newydd yr unawd dan 16 oed a bydd y cyngerdd gyda\u2019r nos yn rhoi llwyfan i Leisiau Theatr Gerdd a seren y West End Kerry Ellis.<\/p>\n

Bydd y digymar Bryn Terfel yn serennu yng Nghyngerdd Gala y 70ain Eisteddfod ar y nos Iau gyda\u2019r tenor nodedig o Malta Joseph Calleja. tra bydd gweithgareddau dydd\u00a0 Iau yn cynnwys coroni C\u00f4r Plant y Byd.<\/p>\n

Bydd dydd Gwener yn dathlu Rhythmau\u2019r Byd ac yn wledd o gerddoriaeth a dawns gan y goreuon o gystadleuwyr rhyngwladol yr Eisteddfod gan gyrraedd uchafbwynt gyda chystadleuaeth Pencampwyr Dawns y Byd gyda\u2019r hwyr.<\/p>\n

Bydd y cyngerdd yn agor gyda Swae Carnifal y Carib\u00ee, yn cael ei ddilyn gan y neges Heddwch Ryngwladol yn cael ei thraddodi gan Theatr yr Ifanc, Rhosllannerchrugog.<\/p>\n\n

Mewn newid i\u2019r amserlen bydd dydd Gwener hefyd yn gweld Gorymdaith y Cenhedloedd, dan arweiniad Llywydd yr Eisteddfod, Terry Waite a fydd yn symud o\u2019i ddydd Mawrth arferol oherwydd bod disgwyl torfeydd mwy a rhagor o gystadleuwyr i ddod i\u2019r Eisteddfod.<\/p>\n

Neilltuir dydd Sadwrn i\u2019r prif gorau a bydd yn cloi gyda chystadleuaeth C\u00f4r y Byd am Dlws Pavarotti, cyn i\u2019r Eisteddfod ymlacio\u2019n llwyr yn y Llanfest ar y dydd Sul cyn y cyngerdd terfynol cofiadwy.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
