Y canwr byd enwog Gregory Porter yn canmol Eisteddfod Ryngwladol yn ystod noson o ganu jazz a soul.<\/em><\/p>\n

Bu\u2019r canwr jazz, blues a soul Gregrory Poter yn canu clodydd Eisteddfod Ryngwladol Llangollen yn ystod ei berfformiad gwefreiddiol yno ar ddydd Gwener 7fed Gorffennaf. Fe ddiolchodd i\u2019r Eisteddfod am ei hymroddiad i ddod a phobl at ei gilydd yn ysbryd cariad a heddwch ac am gynorthwyo parhad cerddoriaeth werin.<\/p>\n

Wrth siarad o lwyfan y Pafiliwn Brenhinol Rhyngwladol, fe wnaeth Porter hefyd gysylltu negeseuon dwy o\u2019i ganeuon enwocaf gydag ethos yr \u0175yl flynyddol. \u201cMae \u2018na deimlad da yma\u201d, meddai.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

\u201cMae Liquid Spirit <\/em>yn s\u00f4n am ryddhau cariad, ysbryd a cherddoriaeth. Dyna beth yw\u2019r Eisteddfod Ryngwladol\u201d, meddai. \u201cYna, mae Music Genocide<\/em> yn s\u00f4n am bob rhan o\u2019r byd yn dod at ei gilydd; cerddoriaeth werin yn cael ei feithrin a\u2019i ddiogelu mewn ffordd. A dyna beth ydach chi\u2019n ei wneud, felly diolch am hynny\u201d.<\/p>\n

Cafodd y gynulleidfa yn Eisteddfod Llangollen wledd unigryw o jazz, soul a gospel gan Porter a\u2019i fand ardderchog, oedd yn cynnwys Albert \u2018Chip\u2019 Crawford ar y piano, Jahmal Nichols ar y b\u00e2s, Emanuel Harrold ar y drymiau, Tiuon Pennicott ar y sacsoffon, Chris Sturr ar y trymped ag Ondre J Pivec ar yr organ Hammond B3.<\/p>\n

Yn addfwyn, dymunol a chwbl gyffyrddus ar y llwyfan, fe wnaeth Poter ennyn cynhesrwydd y gynulleidfa gan smalio nad oedd yn gwybod sut i ynganu \u2018Llangollen\u2019.<\/p>\n

Dywedodd, \u201cMae\u2019n hyfryd bod yn y lle prydferth yma, a chyn diwedd y noson mi fyddai\u2019n gwybod sut i ynganu ei enw.<\/p>\n

Ond cyn diwedd y noson, roedd yn taflu\u2019r enw safle i ganol geiriau ei ganeuon heb ddim trafferth.<\/p>\n

\u201cMae \u2018na deimlad da yma\u201d, meddai cyn paratoi i ganu. \u201cMae ysbryd cariad, ysbryd cerddoriaeth, ysbryd heddwch yn ysu i gael eu gadael yn rhydd.\u201d<\/p>\n

Yn seiliedig ar ei allu i fyrfyfyrio, roedd y set yn cynnwys ffefrynnau fel Musical Genocide<\/em>, On the Way to Harlem<\/em> a fersiwn arbennig o Take Me to the Alley<\/em>, c\u00e2n gafodd ei hysbrydol gan y diweddar Ruth \u2013 mam Gregory \u2013 oedd arfer mynd ag o i\u2019r strydoedd i chwilio am bobol mewn angen.<\/p>\n

Trwy gydol y noson, fe wnaeth Porter gyfeirio at bresenoldeb ei fam yn ei gerddoriaeth, yn enwedig yn ystod ei fersiwn syml o g\u00e2n Nat King Cole, I Love You (for Sentimental Reasons), <\/em>a berfformiwyd gyda Porter yn eistedd a Albert \u2018Chip\u2019 Crawford wrth y piano.<\/p>\n

Esboniodd Porter: \u201cPan mae Nat King Cole yn canu, mae fy mam yn dod ata i drwy\u2019r gerddoriaeth.\u201d<\/p>\n

Roedd y set hefyd yn cynnwys cyfres o amrywiadau unigryw o glasuron fel Papa Was A Rolling Stone <\/em>a Nature Boy <\/em>wrth i Porter ddal sylw\u2019r gynulleidfa yn llwyr. Gan fynd a nhw ar siwrne emosiynol, fe ysgogodd y canwr a\u2019i fand i\u2019r gynulleidfa godi ar ei thraed, gan glapio a dawnsio yn ystod yr encore<\/em>, a rhoi cyfle unigol i bob cerddor ar y llwyfan arddangos y sgiliau anhygoel a fu\u2019n cefnogi\u2019r perfformiad pwerus gan Porter.<\/p>\n

Wrth siarad ar \u00f4l y perfformiad, fe rannodd Porter ei deimladau am Langollen a\u2019r Eisteddfod Ryngwladol: \u201cMae fy ymweliad cyntaf i ogledd Cymru wedi bod yn wych. Dw i yn barod wedi dweud fy mod am roi\u2019r ardal ar restr o lefydd faswn i\u2019n hoffi dychwelyd iddyn nhw. Wnes i weld tamaid o orymdaith tref Llangollen wrth i mi deithio yma ac roedd o\u2019n llawn lliw a bwrlwm.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gan unwaith eto ganmol yr \u0175yl, a gr\u00ebwyd er mwyn lleddfu effeithiau\u2019r Ail Ryfel Byd yn 1947, am ddefnyddio cerddoriaeth fel platfform i uno pobl o bob diwylliant a chefndir, fe siaradodd Porter am b\u0175er cerddoriaeth: \u201cDw i wastad yn dod yn \u00f4l i brofiadau personol lle gwnes i ddefnyddio cerddoriaeth i deimlo\u2019n well, neu i ymlacio. Roedd fy mam yn arfer dweud fy mod i\u2019n canu cyn mynd i gysgu pan oeddwn i’n ifanc. Mae \u2018na gyfrifoldeb ar gerddorion i ddal y p\u0175er hwnnw sydd gan gerddoriaeth.\u201d<\/p>\n
