As we approach the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod (3rd<\/sup> \u2013 8th<\/sup> July), its historical peace message remains at the core of the festival\u2019s ethos. Since 1952, through to present day, Llangollen children have shared a message of goodwill to the world from the festival\u2019s Royal Pavilion Stage.<\/p>\n

Children from Ysgol Din\u00e2s Bran will present this year\u2019s message on Thursday 5th<\/sup> July during the evening concert, through a special performance of mime and narration \u2013 bringing modernity and flair to the initiative. They will close with a contemporary peace song entitled \u2018Peace at Last\u2019, in keeping with the theme of the message.<\/p>\n

Transcending through time, the original peace message was created by Gwilym Davies through the wireless, in his one-man plea to spread harmony to the rest of the world from his home in Wales.<\/p>\n

Resonating so closely with the ideals of the Llangollen Eisteddfod, the reading of the children\u2019s peace message took to the Royal Pavilion stage in 1952.<\/p>\n

During the festival\u2019s evening concert on Thursday 5th<\/sup> July, Llangollen pupils will once again represent what\u2019s come to be synonymous with their history. The annual peace message will celebrate peace, goodwill and friendship, from the children of Wales to the world.<\/p>\n

Also performing on the night will be traditional Welsh folk band Calan, with a selection of quirky songs sure to set feet tapping. As well as this, international competitors will come together, weaving through the audience with their giant flags in the captivating Procession of the Nations.<\/p>\n

Chairman at the Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod, Rhys Davies, said: \u201cWe look forward to welcoming Ysgol Dinas Br\u00e2n during our Thursday concert, as we celebrate what binds the International Eisteddfod together.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re proud that such young, inspiring individuals are delivering this important message and we would like to thank them for their hard work and efforts in creating what\u2019s set to be an excellent performance.\u201d<\/p>\n
